Free Mind | Path to freedom

We live in an information society unprecedented in history. Constantly bombarded with images and words from radio, television, print media, and the Internet, we have scarcely a moment of quiet solitude to hear our own inner voices. And therefore by extension, to be in touch with our innate wisdom. Whatever our conscious minds are not aware of, or care not to deal with in the moment, our subconscious is absorbing and filing away. Let’s face it; there are many external forces at work vying for a piece of our minds.

We cannot be autonomous, free-thinking individuals who rule our own thoughts and beliefs unless we (a) apply discernment to what information sources we give our conscious attention to, (b) apply critical thinking to information we take in, rather than just accepting it at face value, (c) commit to decoupling from media channels that knowingly apply negative subconscious programming, and (d) combine thoughtful analysis with our feeling awareness of the truth.

Dreams or fears? Our minds create it all.

Intention or Wish? | A wish is a wisp, an elusive piece of smoke. Intention creates. | HartHaiku.com

Intention or Wish? | Decide

We’re almost halfway through 2019. How are your New Year’s resolutions going? (Wait! Is that a multitude of groans I’m hearing from afar?) Yes, many of us make them, and almost all of us break them. Why, you may ask? Is it that mostly we lack true resolve? Are our resolutions simply too big and we give up early? Some of that may be going on, but the real essence of it may be the difference between wishing and intending.

“Wishing”: To feel or express a strong desire or hope.
“Intending”: To have a plan or course of action as one’s purpose.

See the difference here?

A wish is an idea or vision you have in your mind, attached to a hope that somehow a genie in a bottle, a fairly godmother, or some other external power is somehow magically going to deliver it.

An intention, on the other hand, combines that same desire with a solid plan. And, YOU make it happen! You have the power, with your creative mind and your intentional action. The catch is, this requires self-discipline (focus and commitment) and self-love (the belief you deserve it), combined with some good old-fashioned elbow grease.

So, rewind to January 1st. Did you set an intention, or simply make a wish? There’s still time…

In any moment,
you can change the path you’re on.
“New Year” is always.

Today | Start of a new day. Have you given your thoughts space to bring good to you? | HartHaiku.com

Today | Your time & worth

Today there are the three powerful little ideas wrapped up in my haiku: Time, thought, and your worth.

Time: Do you fully embrace each day? We know we are mortal (and our ego fears it), but, we still tend to live life as though we have an endless supply of days. You have the choice, right now, to make the most of today. Wring every beautiful moment out of it that you can. Because when it’s over, today is not coming around again. Don’t miss out on anything that you could enjoy, embrace, love, or learn right now. Fully immerse yourself in your life. A movie that drives this idea home brilliantly is About Time. If you haven’t seen it, try to.

Thought: Is your mind consumed with your to-do list the second you wake up? Do your thoughts dwell too often on problems, your personal ones and those of the world? Is there any time today reserved for contemplation, introspection, gratitude for the good things you already have in your life? (Gratitude expands abundance.) And perhaps most importantly, mindful intention to create your ideal life? If not, I strongly urge you to make space for those.

Your worth: Do you even believe that you deserve to have good things come your way? You do. If you don’t believe it, long term you have some internal work to do. But in the meantime, I’ll bet you have at least one champion in your life – you know, a person who believes in you, when you can’t or won’t believe in yourself – that loves you enough to talk you through this. Connect with that person, somehow or some way, even if it’s for just a quick “Hi”. Today, surround yourself with your champions. (And don’t forget to express gratitude and take an interest in their lives too. A balanced life involves mutual exchange.)

Today is all we’ve really got. Please, hear the call, pick up the ball, and run as fast as you can towards your happiness.

Today.
