Division Why must I choose so they can know whether to love me or hate me? | HartHaiku.com

Division | Our Choices

Yesterday a friend on social media posted her dismay that she had been attacked for being too nice. That’s right, too nice.

I suppose the world has arrived at a place where we must always choose a side, no matter the issue. If you’re too nice, clearly you’re not on the side of the haters.

While we are all consumed by news of a killer virus, the (perhaps) worst disease of all may extinguish humanity in its entirety, if we don’t put a stop to it.

The disease is called “my ego need to be right”. As long as we force each other to choose sides and then attack each other for those choices, there will never be any meeting ground for healing and building. We will constantly be stuck in a state of tearing down, doomed in a fatal downward spiral to a black void.

Imagine a time in future when aliens visit Earth, a beautiful place lush with flora and fauna, but strangely void of other life forms. And in their exploration of this lovely planet, they come upon a huge headstone that reads,

“Here lies Humanity. Sadly, they killed each other with their need to be right.”

Personally this is not a future vision that I want to see manifest. As Rumi said,

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing, there is a field.
 I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.”

Yes, we could make that choice to meet there, together. Imagine everyone on the same side, a unified commitment to constantly see, evaluate, and discuss many points of view, without judgement or a need to “have it all my way” or attack.

It would be a beginning…

The Search for More in You

Hello, and I hope all is well with you today.

We are certainly living in some trying times. During the process of blogging for the past year, the most important emerging theme is about evaluating ourselves, our strengths, and how we might think differently about our own self-reliance and use that to navigate through these times. Also, how to recognize that we actually have a lot of personal power to make the world a better place. The fate of the world and our futures is not out of our hands, but rather it is in our own minds and hearts.

I am currently offering a gift booklet of some reader favorites from the past year. It’s an introspective read about my most amazing subject ~ You (Us).

Black & White | Duality trap, endless spiral of hate thoughts, malignant abyss. | HartHaiku.com

Black & White | Duality

Here we are, once again, faced with in an extreme example of the duality of our three-dimensional world. Albert Einstein defined insanity as “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”.

What were once thought to be the worst race riots in U.S. history occurred during the 1960’s. (The spiral of time has unfortunately brought Americans around again to a place where those U.S. riots may be outdone, triggered by an abuse of police power that killed one black man, George Floyd.) The major 60’s riots are outlined here: Race Riots of the 1960s. Notably at the end of the article, I find this quote:

“The race riots of the 1960s led President Johnson to establish a National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders in 1967… There is little evidence that serious efforts were made to correct the problems raised by the commission. The Johnson administration, and those that followed, viewed the riots as law-enforcement problems rather than signs of social imbalance.”

There comes a point (and this may be it), where we have to admit to ourselves that social imbalances are increasingly causing chaos in our world. This current example is the U.S., but in 2019, we saw a rise in serious protests in various countries worldwide. It just happens that the ones in the U.S. are dominating the news at the moment. We should all be concerned about this worldwide trend.

Seeing the Duality of Our Own Nature

We as a collective seem to have the inability to adopt wider perspectives; we become too entrenched in our duality thinking, the need to adhere to one point of view. We observe the hatred “outside of us”, but it is part and parcel of not just the collective, but ourselves. Our souls came here to learn and grow within the duality of our own nature. One of our big lessons is the path towards loving better.

A revered leader in the 60’s was, of course, Martin Luther King Jr. There are many great visionary quotes by him. The thing I love about his words is this. They do not focus on the political arena or drill down to details, but rather they express a higher vision of what we are capable of as individuals, and as part of humanity.

It’s time to take a look not at just at what is wrong with the society external to us, but, how we each can become better human beings to contribute positively to our society. It’s time to pull ourselves out of the malignant duality abyss, heart by heart, and reach for the light.

Martin Luther King Jr. Inspirational Quotes:

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

“We must come to see that the end we seek is a society at peace with itself, a society that can live with its conscience.”

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”

“Let no man pull you so low as to hate him.”

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

“Never forget that everything Hitler did in Germany was legal.”

“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”

“The day we see the truth and cease to speak is the day we begin to die.”

“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.”

“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”

You Create | Your reality is a construct of. your mind; careful what you build. | HartHaiku.com

You Create | Your World

That which we focus on expands. What will you choose to create with your thoughts today? Your dreams and aspirations, or your worries and fears?

There is so much power in our thoughts, and therefore in our own hands. This goes way beyond our personal lives. It extends to the world.

We are inundated daily with negative news, even under “normal circumstances”. Over the past few months it has ramped up to extreme levels.  If we are not careful, it strongly affects our thinking and beliefs about what is possible. We disempower ourselves every time we buy into “this is too big for me, it is out of my hands”, or, “there are only the same old A or B solutions to choose from, oh well, I’ll just pick what seems best”, or, “authorities external to me have all the answers and power”.

Be observant of your thoughts, the words that are running around like little monkeys in your mind. Take control of your them. What messages are playing in your head? Are they a replay of the media hype you just watched on the news? Resist letting your mind become a slave to someone else’s idea of what reality “should be”. Our minds are being programmed constantly by external forces that want to own us. They know our minds are powerful tools of creation. They don’t want us having independent thoughts, or we will become too free.

Humanity is awakening. Whether you realize it or not, you hold a wealth of wisdom within you. Start to trust in the power of that and create with it. Become a player in building a positive new reality for humanity. Every positive thought, vision, and action that comes from you can help to outweigh the negative force in this world.

That is no small thing. It is HUGE and important. You create your world.

Inspirational Quotes:

“However small we are, we should always fight for what we believe to be right. And I don’t mean fight with the power of our fists or the power of our sword… I mean the power of our brains and our thoughts and our dreams.
And as small and quiet and unimportant as our fighting may look, perhaps we might all work together… and break out of the prisons of our own making. Perhaps we might be able to keep this fierce and beautiful world of ours as free for all of us as it seemed to be on that blue afternoon of my childhood.” ~ Cressida Cowell

“Everything you possess of skill, and wealth, and handicraft, wasn’t it first merely a thought and a quest?” ~ Rumi

“Are we our bodies? Is a small person less than a big person, then? If we were our bodies, then when we lost an arm, or a leg, would we be less, would we begin to fade from existence? No. We are the same person.
We are not our bodies; we are our thoughts. As they form, they define who we are, and create the reality of our existence.” ~ Terry Goodkind

“We seldom realize, for example that our most private thoughts and emotions are not actually our own. For we think in terms of languages and images which we did not invent, but which were given to us by our society.” ~ Alan Watts
