Free Your Love

Infinite love already exists in everything that is alive, including you and me. Our love lessons are about removing the obstacles to love. They teach us out how to access, express, and live it. That is, if we choose to learn.

This can feel difficult in a world that is expressing so much dissension and “un-love”. But each of us is a potential key to healing it.

Fear, anger, prejudice… we employ a myriad of padlocks to hold our love hostage. Every experience around love is an opportunity for self-examination. Our souls desire to learn how to love better.

Consider that perhaps the high tension in the world right now is a challenge to each of us to work on unlocking our own love. Together, we can collectively unleash a world of love that has never been seen before.

Inspirational Quotes:

“Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.”
― Anais Nin

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”
― Mother Teresa

“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
― Mother Teresa

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it–always.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

Feel Your Essence

Feeling tired and just a little life torn on this Monday morning? The drama that surrounds us 24/7 is a complicated, human-made matrix that someone has decided to inflict on our souls.

We are complicit. We agree to it! We can overcome this, but we must turn to what is simple and real to find ourselves. We cannot hear our own truth, that wise voice inside, when we are distracted by all that anger, noise, and confusion. Time to take a break:

Walk into this beautiful scene, just for a moment.
Feel the warm sun drenching your body.
Breathe deeply the sweet smell of green on the soft breeze.
Hear the gently trickling, soothing water.
Relax your muscles, and your mind. Go to that place in yourself, that soul center that is wild, free, and unencumbered by the constraints of this 3-dimensional world.
Remember the essence of you…

“Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature, the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” ~ Rachel Carson

“Not just beautiful, though – the stars are like the trees in the forest, alive and breathing. And they’re watching me.” ~ Haruki Murakami

“and when all the wars are over, a butterfly will still be beautiful.” ~ Ruskin Bond

Sunflower Luv

A lighthearted nature post for your Sunday. Sunflowers are my fave flower. Being a sun sign myself, how can I possibly resist them?

Sunflowers are blossoms rolled in sunshine. For many years they’ve been an important part of my garden repertoire. If there is a mixed cut flower bouquet with a sunflower taking center stage, there is no other one for me.

There is probably a bit of ego (ya think?) going on with sunflowers. Here’s a flower that imitates the SUN. They grow BIG, they make up whole golden, gloriously eye-catching fields. In short, they WILL NOT be ignored.

If you are sunflower lover too, do not despair. A passion for sunflowers is a fortunately not fatal attraction. But, here’s fair warning. If you delude yourself that your sunflowers are impatiently awaiting your arrival in the garden, think again. They have only one thing on their minds, which is, “Where’s Mr. Sun now?” The sun is their lover. Any tiny part you play in their world pales in comparison.

The behavior of sunflowers turning to the sun is called heliotropism. They have a 24-hour tracking system that follows the sun everywhere. They’ve even been known to wait in the field at night with their faces turned to the east, awaiting the sunrise.

Now that’s adulation!

“My work is the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird – equal seekers of sweetness. ~ Mary Oliver

“A sunflower field is like a sky with a thousand suns.” ~ Corina Abdulahm-Negura

“Which way will the sunflower turn surrounded by millions of suns?” ~ Allen Ginsberg

Her Heartbeat is Ours

Do you feel your connection to Earth? Her heartbeat is connected to us in ways that are only starting to be understood. More scientifically called the Schumann Resonance, this “heartbeat” is an electromagnetic wave that circles Earth’s circumference. It is closely connected to and communicates with our brains.

This from a Gizmodo post, The Earth has a heartbeat we can see from space:

“The wavelength is the circumference of the earth (or twice the circumference, or three times, or four, and so on). This means that the troughs of these waves will always line up, as will the crests. When crests combine, they get bigger. And with lightning hitting the earth over four million times a day, these waves keep getting the boosts they need. The waves don’t sweep across the surface of the earth. Instead they’re like standing waves, that just pulse at their troughs and crests – a resonant heartbeat.”

The Schumann Resonance (the base atmospheric electromagnetic resonant frequency is 7.83 Hz) is closely in sync with our Alpha brain waves (8 to 12 Hz). Alpha waves “are dominant during quietly flowing thoughts, and in some meditative states. Alpha is ‘the power of now’, being here, in the present. Alpha is the resting state for the brain. Alpha waves aid overall mental coordination, calmness, alertness, mind/body integration and learning.” (From What are Brainwaves? – Brainworks, Train Your Mind.)

The scientific study of the full effects of interference with the Shchumann Resonance ELF waves on our well-being is still in its infancy. But, studies to date suggest that when human vibration is out of sync with the Earth’s resonant heartbeat, we are not in a prime state of health. There are many articles outlining the interference and possible detrimental effects played by our synthetic technologies. There are also theories that staying in alignment could play an important part in the future expansion of our collective human consciousness.

But, why not let yourself be the judge? Start noticing how you feel when you spend too much time around TV, computers, cell phones, etc. And comparatively, the next time you’re out in nature, really tune in to how the images, colors, and sounds are affecting your mind and body.

Listen to the Earth’s heartbeat. She is communicating with you, so get to know and feel her language. Whether you realize it or not, she is calling you back to your organic essence.

Healing Power of Trees

Do you know that trees have the power to heal you? The Japanese know it! They are avid tree lovers and forest bathers. You heard it right! Bathing in trees, spending time around them and soaking up all their great energy.

Trees are powerful medicine

Major studies and experiments have been conducted in Japan to measure the positive effects of trees on humans. The results astound in terms of physical and emotional health. The benefits include improved immune system, lower pulse rate and blood pressure, and reduced incidence of depression. Have I piqued your interest? To find out more, go to this Quartz blog post: The Japanese practice of ‘forest bathing’ is scientifically proven to improve your health.
After you read it, you may just become the next tree bathing convert!

Forest bathing moves West

And lest you think this is just some ‘flash in the pan’ fad, I’m here to tell you, no it is not. In 1982, forest bathing integrated into the national health program in Japan and the studies quoted on health benefits go back as far as 2004. Tree bathing is lately being embraced in our Western culture as an antidote to stress.

A brief excerpt from the Quartz article:

“Julia Plevin, a product designer and urban forest bather, founded San Francisco’s 200-member Forest Bathing Club Meetup in 2014. They gather monthly to escape technology. “It’s an immersive experience,” Plevin explained to Quartz. “So much of our lives are spent interacting with 2D screens. This is such a bummer because there’s a whole 3D world out there! Forest bathing is a break from your phone and computer…from all that noise of social media and email.”

As far as I know, no one has figured out how to bottle this yet. And I hope they never do! I urge you to scout around soon for some trees, and let them work their magic.

They’re waiting for you…

Begin with Love

Love is the fundamental center of our universe. Hate and fear try to worm their way in and take over, time and time again. Experience says that when they do, the best of the human spirit tends to rise up and say “no”.

Do you desire to build a better world right now? Make a personal pledge to always begin from a place of love and the results will astonish you. The dark has no real tools to defeat love. Loving yourself enough not to hook into your own dark side is a very strong beginning. When we succumb to our own dark thoughts, we are letting the controllers of this world divide and beat us.

Inspirational Love Quotes:

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
~ Martin Luther King Jr.

“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.”
~ William Shakespeare

“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
~ Paulo Coelho

“Where there is love there is life.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi

“Nobody has ever measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold.”
~ Zelda Fitzgerald

“If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”
~ John Lennon

“It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and can accomplish much. and what is done in love is done well.” ~ Vincent Van Gogh

Living Consciously

Do you feel lately like you’re being swept along against your will in a tidal wave of “fate”? The dictionary’s definition of fate: “The course of someone’s life, or the outcome of a particular situation for someone or something, seen as beyond their control.”

We are part of everything around us, including those big events seemingly out of our control. We do have a say in our destinies, but, this requires firstly that we start living consciously.

The bigger the external problems seem, the more apt we may be to engage in denial or escapism. Confronting what is uncomfortable may seem like too much work in the short term, “I’ll deal with this tomorrow…”, but in the long run that’s how we claim our lives and start living them intentionally and fully.

There is no time like now to claim your life.

This article offers interesting thoughts and tips about living consciously: The Importance of Living Consciously
