Evolving | Your soul mates

The term “soul mate” is often thought of solely as fitting the ideal of romantic love. That is, finding that one perfect person that will “complete us”, and with whom we live “happily ever after”. We believe life will be smooth and comfy and blissful, if only we could meet that magic person.

But wait! Your Perfect Soul Mate may not feel perfect

Consider for a moment that your ideal soul mate(s) may rather be people who push you to your most and best soul growth. And that may be uncomfortable. And it may not feel perfect. Too often in our society we are encouraged to believe that comfort = happiness.

But, consider this important equation: discomfort = growth. Personally, my view of life is that growth = happiness in the long run. (See my related post, Germinate: Grow your soul) After all, why did we come here? It was not just to accumulate the best stuff and take up space!

Our feelings of connection to familiar souls

We each have various close soul connections, and those relationships may be ones we are exploring in other lifetimes too. Consider that may be why we resonate immediately with those people when we meet. We are inexplicably drawn to them. They feel familiar to us from the get-go.

For me, even as a child and attending a Christian church, it has never made sense that we do all of our learning in one lifetime. How could we ever hope to evolve spiritually within that scenario?

How Relationship Experts Define the Word “Soulmate’

Inspirational Quotes:

“Our universe grants every soul a twin – a reflection of themselves -the kindred spirit – And no matter where they are or how far away they are from each other- even if they are in different dimensions, they will always find one another. This is destiny; this is love.” ~ Julie Dillon

“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.” ~ Elizabeth Gilbert

“I don’t know how you are so familiar to me – or why it feels less like I am getting to know you and more as though I am remembering who you are. How every smile, every whisper brings me closer to the impossible conclusion that I have known you before, I have loved you before—in another time, a different place, some other existence.” ~ Lang Leav
